Democratic Party Announces Orientation Session
Program to welcome and educate individuals interest in elective office and party service
NEW ALBANY, January 20, 2020 – The Floyd County Democratic Party has announced it will hold a party orientation session this Thursday dedicated to welcoming and educating individuals interested in elected office and party service. The event is scheduled for Thursday, January 23, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. at the 40 & 8 Voiture #1250 Veterans Club, located at 221 Albany Street in New Albany.
“It’s important that the public and specifically our party members are aware of the opportunities available to them as part of the 2020 election cycle,” stated Adam Dickey, Floyd County Democratic Party Chair. “Our party wants to welcome those interested in getting involved or running for office, educate them on our activities, and develop solutions to make a difference in our community.”
This event is designed to be an interactive discussion outlining the party’s structure, candidate and activists opportunities, and the party’s 2020 program of events and activities. In addition to races for President, Governor, Attorney General, Congress, and State Representative, the party is currently recruiting candidates for local positions including County Treasurer, Recorder, Surveyor, Commissioner, and Council. Party members also can attend the State Democratic and National Democratic Conventions in June and July.
“Each of us bears a responsibility to our community and we hope this program inspires individuals to make a difference,” Dickey added. “It’s our goal to give folks a starting point for their civic and political involvement.”
The event is open to the public. For more information, contact Floyd County Democratic Party Headquarters at 812-725-2020, or via email Dickey at atdickey@gmail.com.
