Caucus selected candidates for Greenville and Lafayette Township Boards
New Albany, June 30, 2018 – The Floyd County Democratic Party announced the results of a ballot vacancy caucus naming Betty Zipp Batliner for Lafayette Township Board and Carol Norton for Greenville Township Board.
“We are pleased to see both candidates take on this race,” stated Party Chair Adam Dickey. “Betty Batliner and Carol Norton both offer professionalism and experience to the residents of Lafayette and Greenville Township for this November’s General Election.”
Township Boards are composed of three members. Two candidates filed in the Democratic Primary for the Greenville Township position leaving the third open to appointment. Norton joins Craig McCoy and Ann Wilson – NcNally as the Democratic Party’s Board candidates.
The caucus for the Lafayette Township Board position was called following the death of incumbent board member and candidate Charlie Zipp on June 17th. Batliner was also selected to fill the office vacancy through the reminder of the term set to expire on December 31st. Batliner joins Priscilla Sprigler Meek and Carl Schindler as the Democratic Party’s Board candidates.
“Township government often can be overlooked by voters, but it is important we elect individuals that have our community’s best interest at heart,” said Dickey. Batliner and Norton both appreciate the work of Township government in providing emergency assistance, cemetery maintenance, fire protection and other services to our community.”
