Democratic Party Announces County Convention

Biennial Caucus to select candidates for Prosecutor, Greenville Township Board and Lafayette Township Board

New Albany, June 20, 2018 – The Floyd County Democratic Party has announced their biennial County Convention, an event that will showcase 2018 candidates and the Floyd County Democratic Party’s vision for the future.  The convention will be held on Saturday, June 30, at 10:30 a.m. at the 40/8 Voiture Club #1250 located at 221 Albany Street in New Albany.   

“Floyd County Democrats are committed to serving our community,” stated Party Chair Adam Dickey. “With several key competitive races on the fall ballot, the goal of our County Convention is not only to organize for the fall election cycle, but to share our vision with our community.”

At the convention, Floyd County Democrats will showcase their candidates, adopt a local party platform, and coordinate outreach activities. The party’s Precinct Committeepersons will also hold a caucus to slate candidates for Floyd County Prosecutor, Greenville Township Board and Lafayette Township Board. The Lafayette Township Board position recently became vacant following the passing of Charlie Zipp on June 17th. Committee members from Lafayette Township will select both a nominee for the general election ballot and to fill the remainder of the unexpired term through 2018.    

Interested candidates must file a declaration of candidacy (State Form CEB-5) by 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 27th. Applicants must be a resident of the jurisdiction and at least 18 years old. The filing form is available on the Party website at www.floyddems.org. Forms may also be mailed to:

or delivered in person to Democratic Headquarter (312 Bank Street, New Albany) between 10:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
