Floyd Co. Democratic Party Announces Reorganization Results

Erica Lawrence elected as first black Vice Chair

NEW ALBANY, March 6, 2021 – The Floyd County Democratic Party has announced the results of its quadrennial reorganization held on Saturday, March 6, 2021, electing party officers for the 2021 – 2025 term. The following candidates were elected: 

Chair: Adam T. Dickey

Vice Chair: Erica Lawrence

Secretary: Anthony Toran

Treasurer: Jane Willman

“I believe this slate of officers puts forward an excellent face for our party,” stated Party Chair Adam Dickey. “Each of us have broad professional, community, and political experience that we’re ready to use to help grow our party and improve the community.”

“Our officers look forward to the opportunities of the next four years and our Democratic team is excited to make Floyd County a better place to work, live and raise a family.”

Erica Lawrence, whose election marks the first time a person of color has been elected to serve as Party Vice Chair, echoed Dickey’s sentiment and thanked her predecessor Sarah Bonifer for her hard work. Bonifer announced earlier this year she would not seek re-election.  

“I’m very pleased and excited to take on this new role,” she stated. “I appreciate the hard work Sarah [Bonifer] and the other officers have put forward the last four years working to grow education, outreach, and community service activities in the party.”

“With so many needs in our community, it’s critical that our party continue these efforts and not only reflect our vision in our rhetoric, but also reflect it in our actions as a party members, candidates, and elected officials.”

 Dickey believes it is this same sentiment that distinguishes the local Democratic Party.   

 “Our party is a force for good in the community. We focus our policy and efforts in building up one another. We are proud to call Floyd County our home and will continue to fight for the very best for our citizens.”
