Floyd County Democrats Announce FDR Legacy Gala

State Representative Cherrish Pryor to serve as keynote speaker

NEW ALBANY, June 13, 2019 – The Floyd County Democratic Party has announced its 2019 FDR Legacy Gala. The event will be held on Friday, June 28th beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Law Office of Schad & Schad, located at 223 E. Spring Street in New Albany.

“The FDR Legacy Gala provides us an opportunity to celebrate our party’s values and build our grassroots network of volunteers and supporters for the 2019 municipal cycle,” stated Party Chair Adam Dickey. “Honoring former four-term President Franklin D. Roosevelt who led the United States through the Great Depression and most of World War II, the event is designed as a social fundraiser for our party.”

“Roosevelt was a visionary leader for our nation and the values he illustrated and fought for as President continue to form the bedrock of our party,” noted Dickey. “Our party is committed to making our nation, state and local community a better place to live through hard work, fair play, and equality for all our citizens and with candidates such as New Albany Mayor Jeff Gahan, we look forward to continuing the growth and progress of New Albany and Georgetown.

Adding to the excitement of this year’s event will be Indiana Democratic Caucus Floor Leader Cherrish Pryor. Representing State House District 94, Pryor is a member of the budget-writing Ways and Means Committee and serves on the Local Government Committee. Before her election as a State Representative, she served as a member of the Indianapolis City-County Council.

“Cherrish serves as an inspiration to Hoosiers as Democratic Floor Leader, Indiana State Director for the National Foundation for Women Legislators, and as a leader in the Black Legislative Caucus,” stated Dickey. “She works hard to support working families, enhance our state’s education and workforce development, and improve the quality of life for all Hoosiers.”
