Democrats unveil 2019 candidates

Party provides honest, proven leadership for municipal campaign cycle

NEW ALBANY, February 8, 2019 – The Floyd County Democratic Party Chair Adam Dickey made the following statement regarding today’s municipal candidate filing deadline:

“The Floyd County Democratic Party is pleased to present a full slate of honest, proven leaders for this year’s municipal campaign cycle.

Under Democratic leadership, New Albany and Georgetown have grown and prospered. Democrats have been fiscal stewards ensuring a balanced budget in both communities - seven straight years in the City of New Albany alone. We have tackled critical infrastructure improvements from sidewalk and roadway projects to flood control and drainage enhancements. We have worked to incentivize historic preservation, economic renewal and private investment. We have continued our commitment to improving the quality of life through strong parks, community amenities, and youth programs.

“Moving our communities forward, our Democratic ticket features experienced incumbents along with well-qualified newcomers. It includes small business owners, educators, professional service practitioners, and blue-collar workers. Our candidates are deeply rooted in the community having served as civic volunteers, neighborhood leaders, military service members, youth mentors and coaches. Each of our candidates brings a wealth of knowledge to municipal government and we look forward to presenting their ideas and vision for New Albany’s and Georgetown’s future.

“Service.  Community.  Leadership.  These are the principles that guide our local Democratic Party and our Democratic candidates. These are the principles that will guide us as we continue to build on community’s future.”
