Democratic Party Announces Trustee Vacancy

Caucus to select new Lafayette Township Trustee

NEW ALBANY, May 21, 2018 – Floyd County Democratic Party Chair Adam Dickey announced that the party will hold a caucus to fill a vacancy created by the passing of Glenn Freiberger.  Freiberger served as Lafayette Township Trustee since 2014 and passed away on May 9th.

Lafayette Township is comprised of seven precincts and, under Indiana law, those precinct committee persons will caucus to select a new trustee and slate a candidate for the fall ballot. The caucus will be held on Tuesday, May 29th at 6:00 p.m. at the Floyd County Democratic Party Headquarters located at 312 Bank Street in New Albany.

“Floyd County Democrats take the responsibility of filling the vacancy of Trustee seriously, and we are confident that the precinct chairs will select an officeholder and candidate who is committed to the position and will work with the members of the Township Board to meet the needs of the community.”

Interested candidates must file a declaration of candidacy (State Form CEB-5) by 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 26th. Applicants must be a resident of Lafayette Township and at least 18 years old. The filing form is available on the Party website at www.floyddems.org. Forms may also be mailed to:

or delivered in person May 22nd - 24th between 4:00p.m.- 6:00p.m. at Floyd County Democratic Party Headquarters.
