Statement on the Passing of Warren Nash

Former Mayor, Assessor and County Chair left legacy of community service

NEW ALBANY, January 13, 2022 – Floyd County Democratic Party Chair Adam Dickey made the following statement in regard to the passing of former New Albany Mayor, Floyd County Assessor, and Party Chair Warren Nash:

“Today, our community mourns the loss of a true public servant, friend and mentor in  Warren V. Nash. Warren, who spent over fifty years actively engaged in government and public service, served as Floyd County Assessor and Mayor of the City of New Albany before going on to serve twelve years as Floyd County Democratic Party Chair. He also served on several State and local boards, including the New Albany Board of Public Works, New Albany Flood Control Board, as a Democratic Precinct Committee Person and as a former member of the Indiana Real Estate Commission. He was active in the New Albany Elks Club, Rotary, and the NAACP.

“Warren Nash was an exceptional individual and a consummate gentleman. It’s rare to see someone who dedicated so much of his life to his community. His continual presence brought not only experience and expertise, but was a stabilizing force for good. From the creation and development of our city’s industrial park, to training for our Police officers to the fresh pavement on local streets, he was always working to make our community a better place to live.

“Fiercely passionate in his politics, he never wavered in his support of our Party or its candidates. Similarly, he had deep pride for New Albany and Floyd County. Just as he would work to see a candidate elected, you could expect him in the stands at a New Albany High School basketball game to cheer on our home team.

“Among all the things Warren cherished, nothing was more prominent than that of his family. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this time of grief and mourning.”
